If you’re reading this and you are Coachella bound, let us just say that we are very jealous. The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is quickly approaching and we’re here to give you a few recommendations on what to check out in Indio, California and surrounding areas. (Not that you’ll have much free time!)

Most first weekend festivalgoers are heading to the desert today. This may be your only time to explore the city you’ll be partying in for the weekend. We all know you’ll be worn out by Monday, even if you do have a little free time. Hang out with friends before the big weekend at one of these restaurants:

1. The Grill On Main

2. Sam’s Sushi - Treat yourself to a delicious lobster roll!

3. Stuft Pizza

4. Las Casuelas Quinta - Order chips, guac and a huge margarita to get yourself in party mode.

This morning we emailed our users a monthly newsletter to let them know that big changes are coming to gtrot. Tnooz shared our news with their community to let them know that we’re shifting from travel planning to city discovery.

When we launched the current gtrot.com in November, we thought we built a travel planning product. Turns out we were wrong. Personalized recommendations for restaurants, nightlife, deals, events, and more are great for travel. But nearly half of you started exploring your home city, using this advice to plan your weekend or night out. So this month, we’re relaunching gtrot to give users what you want: a platform for discovering your city, sharing your favorite things, and making plans with friends. Follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date on the relaunch!

Year after year many college students graduate with no idea of what’s next. Chicago native Amber Rae is here to change the lives of 24 of those students. She’s starting her own unconventional school, The Bold Academy, for students who want to change the world, but aren’t sure how to get started. The fearless trailblazer doesn’t feel like higher education is enough, and wants to bring 24 college students and recent grads to Boulder, Colorado for a 4-week “transformative life experience”. The goal of the program is to provide students with real-world experience and a clear strategy on how to follow their dreams and ultimately land their dream job.

She describes the experience as a very fulfilling emotional roller coaster, “There will be moments of fear, deep connections, triumphs, and breakthroughs. We see lifelong bonds being formed in days, and strengthened over weeks. We envision this experience being the catalyst for the rest of their lives.”

Hey festival-goers!

The lineup for Bonnaroo, the annual music and arts festival in Manchester, Tennessee was released today! Radiohead, Phish, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining the 4-day festival. The Color Run looks like the most fun 5k we’ve ever seen. You don’t have to do much training for The Color Run, as it is more about enjoying the day and less about speed. Each person will start the 5K in a clean white t-shirt and finish covered in color! Every kilometer has a different color, so when runners/walkers hit the kilometer color zone, the volunteers, sponsors and staff will blitz them with color. The 5k finish color zone isn’t just one color- it’s a color extravaganza!
